Farm Gate Market News and Views
THANK YOU FOR A SUCCESSFUL 2022 SEASON!!
Greetings Ross Ferry Market followers. Our Farm Gate Market had another very successful season and we THANK YOU for being a part of that. We were excited to welcome some new vendors, products, and lots of new customers from all over Cape Breton and beyond.
You may not be thinking about the market in December, but our new and expanded committee certainly is and we are busy planning for 2023 with lots of new ideas. Our coordinator, Joella Foulds, is stepping back from her role, although not completely. Once we iron out the details for 2023, we will be excited to share this with you.
We are looking for new vendors to join our team so if you are interested, or know anyone who may be interested, please reach out to us! We are especially interested in new food producers as we are a member of the Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia, and our mission is to increase the use of locally produced food. History tells us that Boularderie Island was once the breadbasket of the new world, and we can’t lose sight of that. Check back soon and thank you again for a wonderful season!

You don't need to live on the road to be a vendor. There are several location options. Join us!

Our Market
The aim of the market is twofold: to encourage the use and production of local food; and, to foster a spirit of community by providing an opportunity to bring people together for social interaction and community building.
Many of our producers and makers live on the Kempt Head Road and their products are homegrown and homemade.
Our market is both a destination and an experience. Vendors can be found scattered along the Kempt Head Road at their farm gates. Our sister organization, The Ross Ferry Marine Park, has their Sunday BBQ and sells french fries, hot dogs, sausages, water and pop. They also have washroom facilities.
Take your Sunday drive along the Kempt Head Road (between exits 13 and 15).
