Marc & Megan Lyons
Roots & Bulbs Farm
Stop # 7 - 4457 Kempt Head Rd
Nearly "retired" chef trying to live out my market gardener dream. We moved to Cape Breton in the spring of 2022 to be closer to family and in search of a more community focused life for our son... PLUS a bit more land for our mastiff to roam.
We are currently a 1/3 acre NCO (non certified organic) market garden following the soil management philosophies of NO-TILL and JADAM. We will be offering a variety of heirloom vegetables, sprouts and gourmet mushrooms for this season.
We look forward to meeting you this summer.
Pamela Van Dommelen
Shoreline Santas
Stop # 8 - 4370 Kempt Head Rd
Born and raised in Southside Boularderie, Pamela grew up immersed in her father's dutch farming culture. Part of the family's Island Point Farm life included the beloved "farm shore" where a strong passion for beach combing was born. Hunting for unique pieces of driftwood and other treasure naturally turned into a collection of finds. This collection combined with the love of painting inspired her Christmas in Cape Breton driftwood Santas. Every Santa is hand picked from the Bras d'Or Lake's shoreline. The unique faces are inspired by the tides which create the rustic characteristics of each Santa.
Tracy Romeo
Casa Mukulaqatik
Stop # 10 - 3638 Hillside Boularderie Rd
Casa Mukulaqatik (which is Mi’kmak for boularderie island) is new to the Ross Ferry Market for the 2024 season. Hailing from Ottawa, and having CB family roots, Tracy’s interest in art varies from the refinishing of antiques, creation of small crafts and indigenous inspired paintings. The latter skills were developed in coordination with her two indigenous stepsons with whom she would share creative moments over discussions in the studio.
